1953 Oldsmobile project 1940 Ford Coupe project
I have started my 53 Oldsmobile project. This will be a full fendered stock car that will be legal to run with the S.M.V.R. and also I just bought a 1940 Ford coupe. I will try to get both of these cars built this year.  I have a lot to do with the other two cars I am building and they have to be finished first.
Here is the 53 Olds. I have removed all of the interior and glass, also most of the chrome. I have a 1970 Olds frame with complete 350 motor and 400 transmission. I plan to install the complete drive train from the 1970 over to the 53.
Here is the 1940 Ford coupe I just bought. I owned this body several years ago and it was in alot better shape. I plan to bring it back to life and make a neat vintage racer out of it.
Don't know when I will get this car completed but I plan to get started right away. As you can see I have alot to do on the other projects that will get finished ahead of this one. It all takes time and money which I don't have a lot of these days. I am determined to have as many cars for my vintage racing club for 2002, if I have to build most of them myself. I do have a friend, Keith Fitzpatrick, who is helping me as much as he can and I plan for him to drive one of my cars. His dad was an old coupe racer in the early days and you can see some of his cars on my vintage race car page.

Well once again things have changed a little, as I have sold the 53 Olds and 41 Ford coupe to some friends who are in the process of building vintage race cars out of them and I will be having pictures of their progress soon. I have said before that I am doing all I can to help people get started building cars for our new vintage club and now I have another project in my garage and hope to have it finished soon. So here is some pictures of what I have got done so far.
To help speed up the progress on building one more car for our club, I have purchased a IMCA modified and stripped the body off of it, and cut down the right side of the frame to narrow it enough to accept and old 35 Ford humpback sedan that I just happened to have.
This is going to take alot of work to get this body to fit on this chassis, but it will fit the rules and it will be just one more way to pursuade people to build more cars out of what has already been to the track. As I have said before I want these cars to be replicas of the old racers from the past but to be safe and raced competitively. I will have more pictures of this project soon, as I hope to have it finished for our first race of the season.

Here is the 1953 Olds that I started and turned it over to Steve Beverly from Lone Jack MO. He is doing a great job putting it on a Monte Carlo street stock chassis.
Like some other club members, Steve brought this car to the Wheels of Thunder car show unfinished to show people what we are doing with these cars. Steve shortened the body and made a hard top out of it. I think it's going to be a super neat old stock car when finished.  I will be having more pictures of this car as progress is made until it is completed.

Here is another picture of the 53 Olds while the body was being fit onto a Monte Carlo chassis.
Here is the 53 Olds as it sits now finished and ready to race in our S.M.V.R. club.
I think everyone will agree when I say Steve sure made one neat looking old race car.  I can't hardly wait to see it on the track and I only hope that more people build some more of these full bodied stock cars to race with us.
