Here is an old 36 Ford coupe that I and a friend of mine, Jim Penney, tracked down from information given to us by a street rodder who happened to come to my S.M.V.R. show and I didn't waste any time getting a map drawn that took us to this car and another 36 Dodge that you will see in the following pictures.
These cars are not for sale at any price but the owner was kind enough to let us take these pictures.
Those old early racers sure knew how to protect the radiator and make some neat looking old cow catchers on the front of their cars.
In this picture you can see the old belt is still around the door and window frame to keep it shut.
If you look close you can see the hook on the dash, this was a must on these old Fords to lock the gear shift in place to keep it from jumping out of gear.
Here you see the fuel cell which was made from an old five gallon oil can.
Here is the 36 Dodge that we found at the same place and as you can see these old cars are still out there, they are just hid away in places such as this and makes them hard to find.
Here is a better view of the 36 Dodge from the other side with the owner looking on as I take this picture. He said he plans to drag this old car out and restore it in the future. It was his original race car and you could make out the number 500 on both sides.
It is hard to make it out but the front view shows the old cow catcher was made from part of an old wagon wheel rim.
This picture shows the old flat head six motor complete and still in the car.
Here is a picture of the inside of the Dodge and you can see it still has some of the instrument panel. This car still had the bench seat in it with back of the passenger side removed. which is how a lot of these old cars were raced.
